As a mother of two incredibly intelligent young ladies, I would encourage them to bring their own light into the darkness—to find their individual possibilities, dreams, and freedom.
“They paint the world full of shadows, and then tell their children to stay close to the light - their light; their reasons, their judgments - because in the darkness there be dragons... But it isn't true. We can prove that it isn't true. In the dark there is discovery; there is possibility; there is freedom. In the dark, once someone has illuminated it.”
- Character 'Captain Flint'
- TV Show 'Black Sails'
We could also venture to spin this politically. But nah, let’s not go there. 🤪
I could say this is one of my favorite quotes, mostly because there’s so much truth in it. It calls out the sadness of oppression on one side but promises the beauty and excitement of the unknown on the other. Funny, it was found in quite a, well, “racy” Starz Original TV series!
🔻 Just ignore the captions, please. This was the shortest clip I could find. 🙃
Gotta love a good pirate show.
⚠️ Just know, please, that it is not a show for children.
God bless!
